Remember those warm summer nights? The smell of fresh cut grass? The heat of the sun, and the relief of a perfectly chilled cocktail? This was Jo+Dave’s wedding. One of those perfect August nights, designed for summer loving (the Sandy and Danny kind from 1978). And now, I can finally share it with you! Big thanks to Pacific Weddings for featuring this wedding on their precious Love Notes Blog. We are super excited to share this Whistler wedding with the World!
My favourite details from this wedding are hard to keep few. The rock + calligraphy escort cards, the seating chart + signing table (fully equipped with a typewriter for love notes and a polaroid for the quintessential #weddingselfie), the locally collected driftwood, and the perfectly gracious arbor were all captivating and flawlessly minimal. The venue, Edgewater Lodge, was the ideal backdrop for Mother Nature’s vibrant collage of mountains, lake, and trees - pretty much my favourite backdrop for any wedding, ever. Both Jo+Dave’s family and friends also happened to be mega talented in the music department, forming the perfect little orchestra, while one of the (wicked) groomsmen whipped out a set of bagpipes for his procession down the aisle. You can’t plan that shit people. It’s just magic.
The guests came from near and far, gathering from around the globe to celebrate Jo+Dave’s nuptials. Th sun was hot, and the gelato bar was cold. The speeches were emotional and hilarious (Yes, I was the weird wedding planner trying to hide in the corner who cried louder than Aunt Marge). The dance party was Whistler epic. The memories were fond. The babies were cute, and Jo+Dave were perfectly lost in the night.
It was the kind of wedding you hope all weddings are…fun, light, straight to the heart, playful, and all about the real kind of love found in dreams. I admire Jo+Dave for the way they are in everyday life, and I thank them for allowing me to put together a wedding that resonates with all of us as one of the best weddings ever.
